Most of us by now would have upgraded our PCs and Laptops to Windows 8 and 8.1 by now. And you might find a lot of new features in this when compared to the previous version. Well, directly searching for a program or other such stuff in the start menu itself has been a feature in windows since Windows 7 which was great and had no issues. But, certain set of users may find this a issue in Windows 8 / 8.1 so this post will be more like a tutorial with steps to fix this issue of slow search in Start Screen.
So to fix this issue you find need to follow a set of steps :
Step 1 : Goto, the Control Panel and select ►Folder Options.
Step 2 : In Folder Options select ‘View’ Tab.
Step 3 : Below in the option click on > Show hidden files and folder.
Step 4 : In Control Panel now select ►Indexing Options.
Step 5 : Here in Indexing options you need to include Startup applications, etc. So for that click on ‘Modify’ and follow this path:
Goto C Drive > Program Data (Hidden File) > Microsoft > Windows ►Start Menu.
You need to check that Start Menu and Click on Ok.
Last Step :Change back the Hidden Files option to Don’t Show hidden files.
That’s it! The steps are done and now you can feel the speed of searching in the Start Menu.
